The show runs September 23rd – November 4th, 2021

This hilarious comedy surrounds a married couple who are art dealers. Their domestic tranquility is shattered upon the arrival of the wife’s goody-goody nerd of a sister, her uptight CPA husband, and her archetypal mother. They are there to try to save their college-student daughter from the horrors of living only for sex. The comic sparks really begin to fly when the mother hits it off with the elderly minimalist artist who is the art dealers’ best client!

Roles:
Characters’ ages listed are not required actor’s age, but they look like age.

BARBARA 40s – An art dealer and Manhattan socialite who is married to David. She pays her sister to deal with her mother.

DAVID 40s – An oversexed art dealer who is married to Barbara.

TRUDY 40s – The sister of Barbara from outside of Queens who needs to get away from her mother.

MARTIN 40s – Husband to Trudy who just needs to get away from Sophia.

SOPHIA 65+ – A hard to deal with archetypal Jewish mother who acts frail and needy until she meets a “man!”

MAURICE 70+ – Very elderly French artist who becomes infatuated with Sophia as his muse.

Auditions are at The Newport Playhouse and Cabaret Restaurant, 102 Connell Highway, Newport, Rhode Island. Please bring a headshot and resume and be prepared to do some cold script readings.

Auditions for “A Christmas for Carol”

The show runs November 17th – December 31st, 2021

World Premiere: During the holiday season, Carol tends to take Christmas too far at work with decorations, presents, and overbearing traditions that not everyone celebrates in the office. Her co-workers love Carol, but this time of year she gets on everyone’s last nerve, so they formulate a plan for the company party that night. With wacky office hijinks, pranks, an office romance, and even people caught in their underwear, will they be able to help Carol remember the true meaning of Christmas?

Roles:
Characters’ ages listed are not required actor’s age, but they look like age.

CAROL – Caucasian, close to retirement age, and full of Christmas cheer.

FREDERICA* – Late 20s to Early 30s, fashionable, career-driven, and a native Puerto Rican.

MR. JACOBS – Dignified, welcoming, classy, and aged like a vintage wine.

ROBERT* – Late 30s – Leading man, but humble and likable.

LINDA* – Late 20s to Early 30s, innocent, conservative, and divorced mom.

MARTHA* – Early 30s to Late 40s, snarky know it all who thinks others are always wrong.

Please note: Characters with “*” next to their name will be appearing in stage underwear during the performance. Stage underwear covers more than what you might wear to the beach and you can usually wear something more underneath it, however, it will still count as being in your underwear on stage.
 
Auditions are at The Newport Playhouse and Cabaret Restaurant, 102 Connell Highway, Newport, Rhode Island. Please bring a headshot and resume and be prepared to do some cold script readings.

Please bring a printed out schedule of your availability for rehearsals.

Actors must be available for all shows. Please visit the website to see all the show dates and times. Please note that there are shows during the week, during the day. This is a paid acting opportunity.

The Newport Playhouse’s Virtual Online Cabaret entitled A Rhode Island Valentine, premiered on February 12th 2021 online. It was in response to the pandemic that was keeping the theater closed. I directed the production, as well as writing a couple of sketches and acting in one small sketch.
This production was produced from an arts grant and was meant to support and advertise the Playhouse.

This play was written by The Blue Cow Group and produced for the 2020 Providence Fringe Festival. The entire festival was online because of the COVID pandemic.

I was the director of this show, but in this recording, one of the performer’s internet connection failed and I had to step in and play his role with only seconds to spare. It was the only time I have had to last-second perform in a show I was not in. It was exciting and successful. This really was a great show and an honor to direct.

Rose & Julie was an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet rewritten by myself and the students. We worked together for a month and a half to change every line to something modern they would actually say. 

The next step of the production was even more of a challenge. The play was to happen simultaneously around the school. Each scene was plotted out to when it would be happening. Some scenes would happen simultaneously and others had space between them. We timed out the whole show and it meant that some characters would need to improvise and adlib lines until other scenes had ended

The entire show was designed so that the audience would arrive and could choose any character they would like to follow and see what happened to them as the play unfolds. This meant that any character could become the lead in the show and had their own storyline. You could choose to follow Romeo, Juliet, Benvolio, Sampson, the nurse, or any other character of your choosing. Then you could come back again and follow a different character and see a whole new show. While a technical nightmare, the students handled it with such ease and really showed their talents.

Unfortunately, on the night of the dress rehearsal, the news came that the school needed to close due to the COVID crisis. The show was never performed.

It was a tough blow to the students who had worked so very hard. I am so very proud of them and the work they put into such a challenging show.
