Auditions for “Social Security”
The show runs September 23rd – November 4th, 2021
Roles:
Characters’ ages listed are not required actor’s age, but they look like age.
DAVID 40s – An oversexed art dealer who is married to Barbara.
TRUDY 40s – The sister of Barbara from outside of Queens who needs to get away from her mother.
MARTIN 40s – Husband to Trudy who just needs to get away from Sophia.
SOPHIA 65+ – A hard to deal with archetypal Jewish mother who acts frail and needy until she meets a “man!”
MAURICE 70+ – Very elderly French artist who becomes infatuated with Sophia as his muse.
Auditions are at The Newport Playhouse and Cabaret Restaurant, 102 Connell Highway, Newport, Rhode Island. Please bring a headshot and resume and be prepared to do some cold script readings.

This hilarious Broadway comedy surrounds a married couple who are art dealers. Their domestic tranquility is shattered upon the arrival of the wife’s goody-goody nerd of a sister, her uptight CPA husband, and her archetypal Jewish mother. They are there to try to save their college-student daughter from the horrors of living only for sex. The comic sparks really begin to fly when the mother hits it off with the elderly minimalist artist who is the art dealers’ best client!
